Did you know that Facebook has shop pages? You can put your music and merch for sale right on your page! There is a detailed overview on the Social Media Examiner describing how to do this. They break it down into and walk you step-by-step through the process.
However, before you start setting up your shop page, you may want to consider how you are going to organize your goods. We use our portals for different stores – iTunes, CDBaby, etc. Or if you have merch set up at only one store, you can post a pic of that particular piece and link to it directly.
You can also have direct sales portals to yourself if you sell directly. In other words, if you want to sell physical CDS and merch from your own home, this is the place to do it.
Of course, you want to keep in mind how people are going to access your music/merch and from where they are accessing it. That will help you decide the best way to set up your shops. Never forget that music is global, so watch your iTunes links for the geographic markers!
It’s important to realize that Facebook is a big sales portal and having your music and merch available on your page gives you fans on more opportunity to buy.
And while you are giving your page some love, why not check and see if all the left-hand menu items are still working and relevant? Maybe freshen up your header or update your bio and contacts.
It’s hard to carve out time to keep these things regularly maintained, so anytime you have to go in and do work, make it worth your while and review what is currently there and if it’s still relevant.
